MVHS 2026-2027 asb officer & class senate application

Want to be part of Mount Vernon High School ASB next school year? Applications are now open for students interested in running for an ASB Officer or Senate position for the 2026-27 school year and will close Monday, April 27th, 2026.

If you plan to run, make sure to review the full election requirements, eligibility expectations, and campaign rules before submitting your application (see Election Requirements & Eligibility below under Important Links).

All application materials, election slides, and videos are due by Monday, April 27th, 2026. Please be sure to plan accordingly in order to submit your application materials in time.

Available Positions

ASB President - (1 Open Spot)
The President shall have the status of Senior, shall have served as a voting member of the Senate of Mount Vernon High School for a minimum of one (1) consecutive full term/year of office, or one (1) consecutive full term/year, in the ASB class, and shall have attended Mount Vernon High School for a minimum of two (2) years. In order to run for president, candidates must be at least a half time MVHS student. The President shall have participated in at least one extracurricular which must be directly related to Mount Vernon High School. They shall preside over and direct the duties and responsibilities of the Executive Branch. The President shall call together a meeting of his/her entire Cabinet, no less than once a month. The President may appoint special committees not associated with the Senate to research and advise them on specific issues.

Co-President - (1 Open Spot)
The Co-President is an established position appointed by the SLC program. The co-president works alongside the Executive branch. The Co-President Must have been a voting member of the Senate of Mount Vernon High School for a minimum of one (1) semester of office, or one (1) semester in the ASB class.

ASB Vice President - (1 Open Spot)
The Vice-President shall have the status of Junior or Senior and shall have served as a voting member of the Senate of Mount Vernon High School for a minimum of one (1) consecutive full term/year of office, or one (1) consecutive full term/year in the ASB class. They shall have participated in at least one other prior or current extracurricular during high school that may be either related or unrelated to Mount Vernon High School. The Vice President shall assist the President and act as President of the Senate, being responsible for its functioning (refer to Article II, Section 2, Paragraph A). The Vice President as President of the Senate is prohibited from voting to keep an unbiased standpoint during discussions between the cabinet. 

ASB Secretary - (1 Open Spot)
The Secretary shall enter office having the status of Sophomore, Junior, or Senior. The Secretary must have been a voting member of the Senate of Mount Vernon High School for a minimum of one (1) full term/year of office, or one (1) full term/year in the ASB class. They must maintain records of all meetings and actions of the Executive Branch, as well as the Senate. The Secretary shall aid the other Executive Branch Officers in secretarial work. They shall also maintain the Law Book of all legislation and shall see that the legislation is enacted and the proper parties are notified. The Executive Secretary shall retain full voting rights during Senate Meetings.

ASB Treasurer - (1 Open Spot)
The Treasurer shall enter office having the status of Sophomore, Junior, or Senior. The Treasurer must have been a voting member of the Senate of Mount Vernon High School for a minimum of one (1) full term of office, or one (1) full term/year in the ASB class. They shall manage all A.S.B. monies and funds in conjunction with the Secretary of the A.S.B. Finance Office in compliance with state-mandated financial regulations, and must communicate with them no less than twice a school week. The Treasurer shall have the power to sign for A.S.B. monies and funds, and shall retain full voting rights during Senate Meetings.

ASB Historian - (1 Open Spot)
The Historian/Public Relations Coordinator shall enter office having the status of Sophomore, Junior, or Senior. The Historian/Public Relations Coordinator must have been a voting member of the Senate of Mount Vernon High School for a minimum of one (1) full term/year of office, or one (1) full term/year in the ASB class. The Historian/Public Relations Coordinator shall represent the students in the hiring of entertainment, in making press releases on behalf of the student body, and shall be responsible for recording major school events in the Mount Vernon High School End of Year Video. They shall oversee social media accounts including (but not limited to) Instagram, but the ASB advisor must also have access to these accounts. The Historian/The Public Relations Coordinator shall retain full voting rights during Senate Meetings.

ASB Director of Spirit - (1 Open Spot - Candidate Needed!)
The Director of Spirit shall enter office having the status of Sophomore, Junior, or Senior. The Director of Spirit must have been a voting member of the Senate of Mount Vernon High School for a minimum of one (1) full term/year of office, or one (1) full term/year in the ASB class. The Director of Spirit shall be responsible for leading and/or assisting on spirit weeks and creating events that promote school spirit. The Director of Spirit shall retain full voting rights during Senate Meetings.

Class of 2027 Senate - (6 Open Spots - Candidates Needed!)
Represents the needs for Class of 2027, responsible for planning Winter Formal, and focuses on class events

Class of 2028 Senate - (6 Open Spots - Candidates Needed!)
Represents the needs for Class of 2028, responsible for planning Prom, and focuses on class events

Class of 2029 Senate - (6 Open Spots - Candidates Needed!)
Represents the needs for Class of 2029, responsible for planning The Unified Dance, and focuses on class events
